The Glenrothes Golf Course is open for business again after being the victim of vandalism over the weekend.

The incident occurred late night Saturday evening or early hours of Sunday morning and has been reported to the police for investigation. The course was closed on Sunday and Monday whilst several damaged greens were patched and repaired.

Paul Murphy, Courses Manager for Fife Golf Trust said: ?We have drafted in staff from other courses to carry out emergency repairs. They?ve been working hard to restore the course, which will allow us to reopen (weather permitting) to our customers tomorrow.

?The greenstaff have done a great job in difficult weather conditions to reproduce playable surfaces so quickly.?Additional rolling, aeration and extra top dressing in the coming weeks should further aid recovery. Despite this setback I am confident that good green surfaces will be fully restored within a few weeks."

Alistair MacGregor, Chief Executive of Fife Golf Trust added: ?Staff and golfers at the club were shocked and bewildered as to why?anyone would commit such an act. Anyone who knows anything that can help police in their enquiries are urged to contact Glenrothes Police station or phone 0845 600 5702.?
